1. Titles and Defintions
The title 'Criminal Psychologist' is is intricate and does not have a universally accepted definition. This designation refers to experts engaged in assessing evidence that either support law enforcement in criminal investigations, or conversely for the defence, may or may not provide mitigation for a client. Criminal psychologists are not generally classed as 'forensic psychologists' who interact routinely with offenders who are centrally concerned with rehabilitation and providing psychological support services. In comparison, Criminal Psychologists provide valuable insights into individuals' characteristics imbued with the legal system, merging psychology and law for a holistic approach to justice.

Imbued with Cognitive Psychology that explores the mental processes involved in perception, memory, language, problem-solving, and decision-making, and how this understanding can be applied to areas such as education, clinical psychology, and artificial intelligence.
The owner of Tartan Forensic's academic and professional qualifications and formal regulatory, legal appointments and accreditations gives credence to use of the title 'Criminal Psychologist'

The owner and founder of Tartan Forensic LLC neither claims, implies or represents that psychological services are being offered.
​Tartan Forensic does not provide or claim to provide:
- Counselling
- Clinical Psychology Services
- Mental Health Evaluations
- Psychiatry (of any type or area)
- Involvement with rehabilitation of offenders
Neither are any activities or attempts made to carry out such activities or services.

Any case assessment carried out by Tartan Forensic LLC will inevitably contain reference to the law, mens rea, actus reus, applicable to the factual circumstances of the case against a client but uplifted and cogently supported by forensic standard criminological constituents of crime and offending appropriate to the case.

Equally, supporting clients (at the behest of their representing law firm) by use of practical assessment tools designed purely for measuring scale of liability and or for mitigation purposes. (Not for example 'IQ' tests). Tools which assess propensities, decisions, and root cause or other characteristics. Resources designed by criminologists and criminal psychologists.​​​

On balance, a client evaluation does not
- Engineer or concoct spurious defences
- Take part in any form of collusion to unlawfully undermine a prosecution
- Indulge in any form of political discourse in the course of any case.

All evaluation reports provided by Tartan Forensic LLC are evidenced based and in keeping with the forensic knowledge, qualifications, and levels of appropriate care and skills applicable to our remit.​​​
2. Terms of Service
- Tartan Forensic will not under any circumstances communicate or correspond directly with any law enforcement authority or opposing parties concerning a client or clients. All communication is via the clients legal representative.

- In the event of a client being affected by a prescribed mental condition a full briefing and collaborative consultation is taken before Tartan Forensic can become involved. Tartan Forensic does not seek to compromise any advice from the client's psychological expert practitioner.

- An 'evaluation interview' with a client is not a mental state evaluation above and beyond gaining assistance from the client to understand the facts, evidential dynamics and nuances of a case of which the client is under investigation and, or has been charged or otherwise summoned or indicted to a court. Such an evaluation meeting or interview is to gain a complete evaluation of the full overall evidence.
Any subsequent report will encapsulate the actions and decisions of investigators and the said authority (*for example an abuse of process)

- Tartan Forensic , in particular its founder and owner is an independent expert witness registered in the United Kingdom.

3. Training
​Any feedback in regard to any aspect of the training courses provided by Tartan Forensic will scrutinised and replied to. Each case will be considered individually, and all communication is intended to gain maximum value for all concerned. But any complaints which are simply vexatious or argumentative and / or have no viable reason to be indulged any further shall be responded to to that effect. Once only.

Moreover, if an outcome or issues with a training course or programme is different to any degree to the outcome or issue which was possibly pre-perceived or erroneously assumed by the enquirer, or a difference or differences actually realised by the enquirer when the outcome of the training course or programme is produced, then this is a matter objectivity. Any disagreement with Tartan Forensic in this context shall solely be based on the opinion of the enquirer and therefore Tartan Forensic will not enter into dialogues and exchanges on matters of information it was not provided with, which are suddenly produced by the enquirer to support a point of view. Nor can Tartan Forensic comment in any other form other than the outcomes, aims/ objectives of the training itself.

In the context of the above summary in its entirety, No refunds will be issued in the absence of a case made supported by a forensic evaluation. In certain cases (namely apart from those referred to above being blatantly meritless or harassment) complaints will be referred to an independent reviewer. Such a case will then be referred to mediation if necessary.

Tartan Forensic reserves the right to alter or withdraw any of the information on these web pages. While every effort is made to ensure the information contained on this site is correct, the company is not liable for any errors or omissions.
